ABOUT BRIAN

I am a visual artist and designer, and I am particularly interested in creating awareness of human life in balance with other life forms within our shared environment. In my public art, I strive to make interesting and unexpected encounters, often in aesthetically-deprived urban environments, in response to local history and context.

I'm inspired about my “large conversation” with the world by developing work for the public realm, aiming to engage with the communities that will interact with my art, and in initiating and continuing that dialogue with them as part of their daily experience.

My studio is in Portland, Oregon, where I am also operate Neonjones, a neon and LED lighting design and fabrication shop. There I also work with several other fabrication skills for making my public art projects, such as welding, metal casting, neon glassblowing, and there I make my large scale drawings there as well.
