PUBLIC ART: Babe Benches

“Babe Benches”

Welded stainless steel and polyurethane paint

2003

This installation of 4 seating sculptures represent the hooves of Babe the Blue Ox; located in the shadow of Kenton neighborhood’s historic Paul Bunyan statue, the hooves are a subtle and cheeky nod to Paul Bunyan’s mythical bovine friend (who is "present in absence”) and to the activity of the nearby historic stockyards and meatpacking industries that were -and are - a significant part of Kenton’s origin story.
